WIMBLEDON 2OO8
WIMBLEDON 2008 began couples days ago. if you are little bit interested in tennis you shold know that there are 4 grand slams(major tournaments) in a year : Australian open, French open,Wimbledon and US open. but for me Wimbledon is the most interesting and amazing tennis tournament.
maybe because it's got something about it - some special atmosfere. all players dressed in white - top players (like Sharapova, sisters Williams, champion Federer)dressed by latest fashion requirements, some of the support staff dressed in white. everybody eat strawberries and drinks champagne (some not so posh peaple drink "Pimms")

everyday thousands of people coming to Wimbledon tennis tournament. people coming from all over the world to see their favourites playing: from USA and Canada, Australia & NEW Zeland, China , Japan and etc.
sometimes there are so many people , that it's really hard to get to the playing grounds. but everyone enjoying themselves big time - having seen any sad faces, unless some players who just lost the match.
one more reason to enjoy is good weather, ussualy during wimbledon rains often.
i came to tournament on the second day. i was lucky to see some top players : Sharapova(winner in 2004), Ivanovic (Australian open winner 2008- number one seed), Roger Federer (winner 5 times in a row), Andy Roddick, british players Andy and Jamie Murray (winner of mixed doubles 2007). these guys and ladies look a bit different than on tv. for example ladies look more beautiful
some results: the bigest upset so far was that Djokovic (number 3 seed)lost to russian Safin (russians are doing really well in the sport in these days!) . all other top seeds are doing well -like Federer, Nadal, Ferrer.ladies - Ivanovic, sisters Williams, Sharapova, Jankovic- all won their matches.
one interesting result - the guy raked 661 in the world (lowest ranking) beat another one who's ranking 114 (alomost top 100). that british guy (winner)was in 9th heaven after the match.
