Yes, I know it, you know it, we all know it. Yet we still expect a car accident on our way to work, slip on the wet floor and fall down, choke on a meatball during our lunch and in the evening find out that our spouses are cheating on us. Now it is proven that we should not fear.

Statistics agency from the Netherlands dedicated they entire research to find out whether people do actually have worse luck on Fridays 13th’s than usual. They used the data, collected from various insurance companies about the numbers of all kinds of disasters happening on Fridays. Believe it or not, ordinary Fridays have more crashes, house fires or robberies happening, than the ones on the 13th day of a month. At least this is what Alex Hoen from the statistics agency claims.

“It is quite hard to believe, but this happens because people actually tend to be more careful or even stay at home”, says Hoen.

“Stats simply show that driving a car on Friday 13th is a little bit safer”.

And yes, they do. Dutch insurance companies register about 7800 accidents on a typical Friday. Only about 7500 of them happen on the 13th.

So, you may relax, nothing bad is going to happen. Although, even if you do find your spouse cheating on you, trust me, it really has nothing to do with the day of the month.
